WELCOME!
The Biomolecular cryoEM Facility at University California - Santa Cruz is a state-of-the-art electron microscopy user center supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) high-end instrumentation program.
Based on innovation, collaboration, and quality as our values, our mission is to help scientists from any background to solve the most challenging scientific problems and train users in cryo-electron microscopy.
STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY AT THE GLANCE
University California - Santa Cruz - Biomolecular cryoEM facility is a leading provider of cutting-edge structural biology solutions using transmission electron microscopy.
We provide access and guidance to a complete workflow from sample analysis and optimization to grid preparation, automated high-resolution imaging, data analysis, tridimensional reconstruction, which allows structure determination via model construction and validation.

Multiple levels of service and access are available and correspond with the type of analysis desired. Onsite individual training is provided for users from different levels and there are no geographical restrictions.

Dear cryoEM community,
We are excited to announce a new staff scientist position (specialist series) available within the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC Santa Cruz.
The scientist will work with users of the Biomolecular Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility and oversee, process, and analyze data. There will be opportunities to collaborate with UCSC faculty on determining macromolecular structures through single particle cryo-EM, subtomogram averaging, and microelectron diffraction approaches.
Additional, we envision that the scientist will lead and instruct researchers in computational structural biology methods, including deep learning approaches.
Please be aware that remote work arrangements may be considered.
